V8 Vocal Ensemble

Breaking the mould of traditional concert etiquette, Auckland-based V8 Vocal Ensemble is well known for performing traditional choral and jazzy vocal arrangements in a stylish and entertaining way. Fresh and contemporary, fun and entertaining, this well-trained octet’s aim is to perform good music well, and have a lot of fun on the way.

Their sensitive ensemble singing brings brilliant 8-part harmony with a splash of vocal jazz, colourful folk songs and clear classical lines – from renaissance madrigals to pop hits.

The award winning singers present songs from musical masters such as Mendelssohn and Lennon & McCartney, with finger-snappin’ melodies, Italian love songs, gospel spirituals and cherished classics. 

This V8 purrs with all 8 cylinders at full strength, powering along the airwaves with their sleek musicianship and well-tuned sound.

Last year V8 Vocal Ensemble hosted the opening evening concert at SING AOTEAROA 09 as one of New Zealand's top choral ensembles including Voices New Zealand, Viva Voce and The Graduate Choir. 

 

All members are current or former members of New Zealand’s most prestigious choirs Voices New Zealand and New Zealand Youth Choir, and highly trained for consistency, energy and excellence. All have represented New Zealand overseas with these choirs to critical acclaim and award success.

 

V8 Vocal Ensemble’s influences and arrangements also include international vocal groups the Kings Singers and Swingle Singers, Chanticleer and Amici. 

 

V8 were awarded with Gold at the NZ 2003 Classic Sing Grand Prix. Adjudicator Janet Lincé: 

 “All members of V8 are experienced singers and they delivered an excellent example of sensitive ensemble singing, wonderful diction and superb musicianship. Very stylish, totally entertaining and polished”
